School of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies welcomes new Associate Dean
, PhD, Professor, , has accepted the appointment of Associate Dean in the , effective Sunday, July 1.
Dr. Murphy will be a major contributor to policies and practices that support graduate students’ and postdoctoral fellows’ scholarly success.
She has held a variety of academic administrative positions, both at the University of Auckland in New Zealand and at the 萌妹社区. She has been at our university since 2007, where she developed the undergraduate Kinesiology program and the Kinesiology field within the Master of Health Sciences (MHSc) program. Recently, she led the creation of proposals for a doctoral program in Health Sciences and a Master of Health Sciences in Nursing (MScN) program in collaboration with Trent University.
Dr. Murphy has been Associate Dean of Research and Graduate Studies in the Faculty of Health Sciences since July 2016. She was also a member of the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council Discovery Grant Program’s Biological Systems and Functions peer evaluation group from 2012 to 2015, serving as Section Chair during her final year.
She has supervised or co-supervised 10 PhD and 30 master’s students at two universities, including the top PhD thesis recipient at the University of Auckland (2009) and the top master’s student at the 萌妹社区 (2016). She has more than 70 peer-reviewed journal publications and 100 conference posters and presentations.
