PCI compliance audit underway

PCI Security Standards Council logo

The Payment Card Industry (PCI) Data Security Standard is designed to ensure organizations that accept, process, store or transmit credit card information maintain a secure environment. PCI compliance helps prevent data breaches and cardholder data fraud; it also helps improve an organization’s overall information technology (IT) security posture. All business areas that accept credit cards as a form of payment, and all service providers involved in the processing of credit card transactions, are required to be compliant with the standard.

What can you do?

The IT Services department is conducting an audit to identify instances of stored credit card data on campus. Please do not store any payment card information on paper or in electronic files on the shared drives or in your email. IT Services will contact departments with instances of credit card data that needs to be removed.
