Introducing Brand Central

The Communications and Marketing department (CM) recently launched Brand Central (), where you will find everything you need to know about the university’s brand strategy, identity, standards, and quick access to all of our tools and resources.

What is a brand, and why does it matter?

A brand is a perception of an organization’s products, services, reputation and identity.

The university has developed a set of visual, design and digital elements, along with key messages that, when used together, strengthen its identity, boost people’s positive perceptions about the university, increase awareness about our programs and research, and distinguish us from our competitors.

Why should I use Brand Central?

You will help the university build its reputation by following the guidelines, and using the tools and services found on Brand Central: 

Design:

  • Visual identities: official logos, signatures, wordmarks, colours and other visual aids.
  • Digital signage, email signatures, icons and graphics, photography and videography.
  • Signage: interior, exterior and kiosks.

Guidelines:

  • Accessibility: guidelines for print and web.
  • Events: planning guidelines, materials, service providers, photo galleries for inspiration, and a link to the university’s events calendar.
  • Writing: the university’s Editorial Style Guide, Writing for the Web Guide, and general writing tips.
  • Web: Content Management System User Guide, email signatures, events calendar, evites and newsletters, and website guidelines and responsibilities.
  • Production: project management, print buying, vendor contacts and sourcing assistance.
  • Social media: Initiating a social media channel, general dos and don’ts, and guidelines for faculty and staff.

Products and templates:

  • Stationery e-store: Ordering letterhead, business cards, envelopes and other university-approved stationery supplies and marketing materials.
  • Promotional products: Ideas and inspiration for corporate gifts and promotional orders through our designated vendor.
  • Electronic and printable templates: A family of branded templates for electronic communications and presentations, posters and postcards.
