Complete the university鈥檚 new sexual violence response and prevention training modules

At the 萌妹社区, we care for one another as colleagues and as human beings. We are invested in making our university a safe, welcoming and positive place.

The university takes the safety and well-being of its students, faculty, staff and other members of the campus community very seriously. We strive to be a place where people are able to study, work, connect and grow personally and intellectually without fear of violence or harassment of any kind.

The Occupational Health and Safety Act was amended to include new legislation: Bill 132, the Sexual Violence and Harassment Action Plan. The legislation requires every employer in Ontario to take specific steps to prevent and manage workplace sexual violence and harassment, including implementing a policy and program. In response to this call to action, the university developed two policies addressing sexual violence and harassment: one for students and one for faculty and staff.

The university has also made available two training modules for faculty and staff to create awareness about the policy, and support the prevention of sexual violence.

The first module, Sexual Violence Education and Prevention Training, focuses on:

  • How to receive and support a sexual violence disclosure at the university.
  • The process for reporting incidents of sexual violence at the university.
  • The supports on and off campus that are available to students, faculty and staff.

The second module, Responding to Disclosures of Sexual Violence, was developed with funding support from Ontario’s . Western University created this module in partnership with George Brown College and an advisory committee representing a number of other Ontario colleges and universities. This training employs scenario-based interactive learning about how to respond to disclosures of sexual violence.

The university strongly encourages you to by Sunday, March 31. Thank you for supporting our ongoing efforts to collectively contribute to a violence-free campus.
