Introducing MyStart: The new name for Ontario Tech’s orientation program
Ontario Tech’s 2019 orientation is rebranding under a new umbrella term: MyStart. Previously, the university’s orientation was carried out over three events, each with its own name and focus (iBegin, Smart Start and Ignite). These events will now be known as:
- MyStart: Welcome
- MyStart: Academic
- MyStart: Orientation
The university is also renaming its specialized orientations and included them under the new MyStart brand:
- MyStart: Accessibility – for students with documented disabilities
- MyStart: International – for incoming international, exchange and visiting students
- MyStart: Mature and Pathways – formerly known as the Mature, Transfer and Pathways session
This change comes in response to the need for a less complicated and fragmented orientation program. It will help incoming students understand how each event fits into the overall orientation experience while retaining its specific focus.
