FSSH Professor interviewed by CBC about ChatGPT and its potential in the classroom

, Communication and Digital Media Studies Professor in the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities at ÃÈÃÃÉçÇø, was recently interviewed by CBC for print and radio about ChatGPT and how educators can manage its use in the classroom.

With the return to school, educators will need to consider a new technology in their classrooms. ChatGPT, a generative artificial intelligence, that has the ability to take prompts and generate text, making itself popular with students as way to write assignments.

Dr. Lauricella spoke to CBC News about how ChatGPT can be used to revise and improve written essays, rather than generate them from nothing.

In another interview with CBC News, Dr. Lauricella spoke the need to teach students about ChatGPT so they can use it properly and safely.

Dr. Lauricella was also interviewed on CBC Radio (British Columbia) on the On The Island program about how to spot assignments or essays written by ChatGPT.
