The Weight of the World: How Instructors and Staff Can Support Students Through a Trauma-Informed Lens
On Thursday, April 4, the Teaching and Learning Centre (TLC) will host a workshop titled The Weight of the World: How Instructors and Staff Can Support Students Through a Trauma-Informed Lens.
Students bring their personalities, strengths and insights to class, along with the challenges they face in their day-to-day lives. Embracing a trauma-informed approach when working with students (e.g. when teaching or advising) considers students’ backgrounds and contexts, as well as how their learning may be impacted by these contexts.
In this workshop, we will discuss trauma, how it impacts learning, as well as strategies and supports you can implement for a more responsive teaching and learning environment.
