Ms. Judy Goldring

For her renowned leadership in the asset management industry, her advocacy for diversity and inclusion, her community philanthropy, and for her reputation as one of Canada's most influential businesswomen, the university proudly confers upon Ms. Judy Goldring the honorary degree of Doctor of Laws.  

Ms. Goldring is President and Head of Global Distribution at AGF Management Limited, overseeing the execution of the firm’s strategic plans, as well as its Human Resources activities. She is also responsible for AGF’s Private Client businesses: Highstreet Asset Management Inc., Cypress Capital Management Ltd., and Doherty & Associates Ltd. 

Throughout her distinguished 25-year career at AGF, she has championed AGF’s pillars of social responsibility: support of education, diversity and the environment; and commitment to the community through sponsorships and partnerships.

Ms. Goldring is a strong role model for women. She served on the University of Toronto’s Governing Council from 2007 to 2016, including three years as Chair (2013 to 2016). To date, the Goldring Family has contributed more than $17.4 million to the University of Toronto, in support of various university entities such as Victoria College, the Goldring Student Centre and the Goldring Centre for High-Performance Sport.

In addition to her involvement in several charities, Ms. Goldring serves as Chair of the Investment Funds Institute of Canada. She recently completed terms on the boards of the Toronto French School and the Children's Aid Society Scholarship Committee. While also being a lead fundraiser in the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation's $100 million Campaign to Accelerate, Ms. Goldring presently co-chairs the ‘Defy Gravity’ campaign for Victoria University at the University of Toronto.

In 2015, she was named a Top 100 Hall of Fame Inductee by the Women’s Executive Network, having been nominated as one of Canada’s Top 100 Most Powerful Women for a fourth time.

She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Toronto and Bachelor of Law degree from Queen’s University. She was called to the Ontario Bar in 1993 and is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada and the Canadian Bar Association. She was awarded an honorary degree by the University of Toronto in 2019.
