Dixon-Alger Fireside Reading Room

Fireside Reading Room Our beautiful Dixon-Alger Fireside Reading Room features exposed brick, an electric fireplace, and a two-storey glass wall overlooking Polonsky Commons and the reflecting pond. 

We welcome requests for use of our Fireside Reading Room. We balance those requests with the need to provide students with quiet study space, particularly in peak times such as exam periods.

 

Dixon-Alger Fireside Reading Room Booking Procedures 

Reservations & Cancellations

Please submit your request to book the Dixon-Alger Fireside Reading Room no later than one week prior to your event.

Need to change or cancel? Please email library@ontariotechu.ca  at least 2 business days in advance of your event.

Room Location, Size, and Capacity

The Dixon-Alger Fireside Reading Room is located in LIB 200, on the 2nd floor of the North Oshawa Library.

The maximum occupancy of the room varies, depending on the room configuration for your event.

Furniture & Equipment

The Dixon-Alger Fireside Reading Room is equipped with a mix of furniture suitable for small or informal gatherings and events, as well as multiple electrical outlets, and can accommodate AV equipment setup.

If required, arrangements for AV or other furniture are the event organizer's responsibility. Submit any requests for furniture and equipment directly to servicedesk@dc-ot.ca. Indicate below if you plan to make furniture and equipment arrangements.

Food & Drinks

If you require refreshments as part of your event, submit orders directly through the University's in-house.

Please ensure that catering equipment and any leftover food are removed promptly following your event.

Housekeeping

Any housekeeping work orders required before or after the event are the event organizer's responsibility. Please submit housekeeping requests to servicedesk@dc-ot.ca.
