How to access your U-Pass

Step 1: Receive your email invite
At the beginning of each semester, eligible, full-time students will receive an email to their , prompting them to access their U-Pass E-Ticket.
Eligible, full-time students who register in a full-time course load after the semester begins, will receive their U-Pass email invite within 1-2 business days after registering for courses.

Step 2: Download the PRESTO E-Tickets app
Download the through your mobile device's app store.

Step 3: Create your account
If it's your first time accessing an Ontario Tech U-Pass, sign up using your . Ensure that you spell your email address correctly when creating your account. Otherwise, you will not be able to access your pass.
Note: If you already have a PRESTO E-Tickets account under a personal email address, you must create a new account and register using your university email address.

Step 4: Sign in to the PRESTO E-Tickets app
Sign in to the on your mobile device using the account you created in step 3.
Please ensure you are not using the Google sign-in option, as this may cause errors. Instead, you should manually type your university email address and password in the spaces available.

Step 5: Activate your pass
After you have successfully signed in, select the Available tab and open the DRT U-Pass to activate your new semester pass.
The DRT U-Pass will only display here once passes have been issued at the start of each semester. After selecting the DRT U-Pass, you will be prompted to select OK, acknowledging the expiry date. U-Passes will expire at the end of each semester.
Please note: U-Pass E-Tickets cannot be activated before the following dates:
- September 1st - fall semester.
- January 1st - winter semester.
- May 1st - spring/summer semester.

Step 6: Access and use your U-Pass
Once your U-Pass has been activated, it will appear under the Active tab in the for you to access throughout the semester. Open and scan the QR code from your activated E-Ticket each time you board a DRT bus.
You will need to download the latest update to the PRESTO E-Tickets app in order to enable the QR code validation feature. App updates will require internet access to sign in. Once you’ve signed in and accessed your pass, daily use won’t require internet access.
Important information
- U-Passes are valid during the following periods:
- Fall semester: September 1 to December 31.
- Winter semester: January 1 to April 30.
- Spring/summer semester: May 1 to August 31.
- You may continue to display your activated E-Ticket when using DRT On Demand or Specialized services.
- If you don’t have a mobile device, email upass@ontariotechu.ca for further assistance.
- Students who withdraw from full-time studies or drop to a part-time course load will lose access to their U-Pass.
- Please remember that your U-Pass is for your use only. It is not transferable. Misuse of your U-Pass may result in the cancellation of your pass.
